eks that I am staying in Wellington. Everything seems to have been kind of settled down and I am getting used to the life here. One problem with settling down is that you get to start buying stuffs and things are accumulating in our room. Previously living in Hawke’s Bay does not pose such a huge problem as Taradale, the town I am staying, does not have big shopping mall and going out is not that accessible. However in Wellington, malls are within walking distance and there is this store called the Warehouse where things are selling relatively cheap – a lot cheaper than the most boutiques (Example: a pair of boots is NZ34.90, sometimes with discount the cheapest is NZ24.90). What make it more attractive is that it is just next to where I stay, so how can I resist not buying things… Hahaha (Ops, finding excuses for myself)…There are basically three kinds of Supermarket in New Zealand, namely New World, Pak n Save and Foodtown. Depending on what is on promotion, you will able to get really good deal for different stuffs at these different places. However, according to some friends, New World is slightly more expensive than the rest and it is also more widely found.
My getting fat formula is potato chips and ice creams. Yummy… I had been eating lots of potato chips here and they are a lot cheaper in Sing (NZ1.50 for those big bags 150g kind and the more branded like Uppercuts or Kettle Chips are NZ2.20 when on promotion – I am poor so I usually buy chips when there is a good deal). Oh, I like the Kapiti ice cream here, really soft, rich and creamy. What I like about Kapiti ice cream is that I can scoop out the ice cream easily straight after taking it out from the freezer, but not for Hazgen Daz or Ben n Jerry. Hmmm, not sure I can find this brand when I get home.
Watching a movie is expensive. Tickets priced are NZ12 before 5pm and NZ15 after that. Tuesday is a special day and the ticket price is NZ10.50, this price is comparative to Weekend show back home, not too sure after 5pm is it the same. So if you wanna watch a movie the day to go is Tuesday. Well, I sort of doted myself and watch the movie “Watchmen” on a Tuesday. Not too bad, but not too much action and a bit of storytelling on the individual character. I prefer more action though; one good thing is that the show is not censored. Yeah, unlike Sing, even if it is a M16 movie, parts of the show are cut which spoilt the movie. The leg spaces between the seats in the cinema are very spacious maybe it is due to the people here are bigger, comfortable for those tall and long people.
Lastly, the landlord finally did something to the cockroaches in apartment. But the kitchen is in a mess as nobody did the clearing after the pest control. Think on Monday when the rubbish is being cleared, I will have a tidy shared kitchen to cook and eat my meal. No more cockroaches’ days are coming, frankly speaking it is the living habits that are luring them in (Not clearing the dustbin, never throw the rubbish into the bin and leaving it on the floor, never wash up after eating, wash only when need to used). I am so glad my mom keeps the home nice, tidy and clean and of course I do help out too… hee…
